Caremark’s History
Caremark’s founder Kevin Lewis set up the Caremark brand in 2005. As the leading authority in UK home care franchises, Kevin embedded unrivalled care industry knowledge into the business. Sadly, our founder Kevin passed away in September 2021. We at Caremark are deeply proud to be a part of the business he created, and to uphold his extraordinary standards and commitment to quality home care. His experience in the field began back in 1987, when he established a small rest home in Brighton and then expanded it successfully.
Integrity and success
In the early 90s, the ‘care revolution’ took place – local authorities stopped being sole suppliers of care and instead enabled private companies to step in as providers. Kevin’s business was thriving and respected, so social services invited him to branch out into the provision of home care – also known as domiciliary care. Kevin already knew his customers wanted good personal care and support in their own homes, so he seized the opportunity. This venture flourished, and the business soon became a key provider in the area.
Kevin soon recognised that franchising was the best way of providing exceptional care services throughout the country. He developed a detailed and highly specialised care service methodology, incorporating a robust set of policies and procedures.
Attentive care – everywhere
From 1995 to 2001, he built a UK-wide network of prosperous franchise owners and rapidly became the UK market leader. Unsurprisingly this achievement gained some attention, and a large PLC bought his company in 2001. Some people might have stopped at this summit – but Kevin was still motivated by a desire to improve standards and access for customers. Rather than just resting on his laurels, in 2005 Kevin launched Caremark.
Since then, Caremark has steadily expanded throughout the UK and Ireland, driven by the aim of transforming home care in the UK and beyond.
Becoming the provider of choice
Caremark now has 129 offices, with 117 of those in the UK. Evidently, the limits of the Caremark formula have not yet been reached. By delivering an excellent service, Caremark enables people to maintain their independence and dignity in difficult circumstances. After tragically losing Kevin in 2021, the Caremark team are proud to share, safeguard and develop his remarkable vision.
Caremark has built an incomparable reputation in the market – they are the domiciliary care provider of choice in the UK. Their esteem continues to grow because Caremark is about relentlessly striving for excellence – setting ambitious standards, continually diversifying services on offer, and putting quality and integrity at the very centre of the working culture.
